On April 6, 1938, American chemist Roy Plunkett accidentally invented the new material "Teflon" under the circumstance. The chemical name of this material is polytetrafluoroethylene, which has the characteristics of acid resistance, alkali resistance, and resistance to various organic solvents, and is almost insoluble in all solvents. At the same time, it is resistant to high temperatures and extremely smooth, so it has become a widely used coating for non-stick pans and inner layers of water pipes.

    Planckert is a researcher at the Jackson Laboratory in New Jersey, USA. At the beginning, he was helping DuPont develop a new refrigerant. It was some errors in the experiment that led to the discovery of "Teflon". Planckt stuffed some gas tanks filled with tetrafluoroethylene gas in dry ice to prevent them from exploding when heated. However, when Planckt wanted to use these gases later, he found that the gas in the gas tank disappeared bizarrely. However, it is puzzling that the gas tank is still as heavy as the gas. Out of curiosity, Planck sawed the gas tank with a saw, and found that some small white waxy flakes fell out of the tank.
What are these mysterious chemicals? Planckt immediately studied their characteristics through experiments. The experiment proved that this new substance is a strange lubricant and has a very high melting point. It is not afraid of heat, water, acid or sticky materials. "It was so accidentally born. Teflon was originally used to manufacture military equipment until 1954, and some people thought that this material would be applied to frying pans.
